The original source material is a collection of very short comic strips and these have been adapted for virtual reality to combine together multiple stories into one single cohesive narrative using two of the stories based on seagulls as the primary inspiration and starting point.

There will be three seagull characters in this experience, the first being more talkative and outgoing, the second being more mean, non-caring and sarcastic and the third being the player. Playing as one of the animals from the story allows the player to be a character in this world and gives them the opportunity to not only observe but to also behave how they think animals would in these situations and environments.

Comics are traditionally told visually through drawings and speech/dialogue bubbles and so we felt it was important to keep that style and adapt it into the final product. During the experience the player can move and interact with the other characters by grabbing and throwing their speech bubbles, taking objects that are offered to them and also being able to hit the other characters as an added element of comedic slapstick.

Mini Game

Interactions andgameplay have also been taken directly from the comics such as the ‘Humming bird mini game’ which has been adapted into an ice cream eating mini game that the player can take part in.
